Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojna or Skill India Mission is an initiative started by our current Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on 15th July 2015. He quoted that India has a prospect to provide a workforce of about 4 to 5 crore to the world if the skills of the citizens are refined through correct and self-motivated training according to the talents and summed up by initiating this project. Nothing that the world and technology are changing fast, the Prime Minister said, “We need to have a futuristic vision and prepare plans for the next 10 years” and advocated the necessity of steady collaboration between the industry and technology experts. The most amazing thing that he said targeting our neighboring country was “If China is like a ‘manufacturing factory’ of the world, India should become the ‘human resource capital’ of the world”.

The structure will be executed with the help of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Under this project, people are selected having a specific set of skills that they may have or they want to develop or enhance. They will be exposed to industry-level training that will ultimately secure their future. After their training is done, they will be given a certificate under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Under this Scheme, Training and Assessment fees are totally compensated by the Government.

Key Components of the Scheme:

    1. Short Term Training

This is aimed at school/college dropouts or unemployed. Under this, they will be provided with training in Soft Skills, business or financial Literacy. Duration mat varies between 150 and 300 hours according to the type of training provided. After the effective accomplishment of the valuation, they will be helped by Training Partners (TPs) for their placements.

  1. Recognition of Prior Learning

Candidates with previous skills shall be evaluated and will get certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) section of the Scheme.

  1. Special Projects

These are such projects that involve some extra terms and conditions as compared to that of the Short Term Training. They will be provided small to medium-sized projects that can be handled alone or in a team.

  1. Kaushal and Rozgar Mela

TPs will conduct these events every six months along with media exposure for on-ground activities.

  1. Placement Guidelines

They will be provided enough training so that they can engage and get selected in any firm which may include personality development along with entrepreneurship development.

  1. Monitoring Guidelines

High standards are maintained for monitoring that will ensure the right future of the candidates.

Role of computer training in PMKVY:

Under this norm, the applied candidates are first screened and selected then they are provided free computer training on various modules that will help them in securing a better job in the future. And franchisee institutes can apply for becoming a part of this whole big thing that would then be a self-regulating Institute teaching them to yield world level personals. Becoming Franchisee will mean they are not working for profit but for social service. It is just that these institutes must fulfill some terms defined by the government itself like area, the number of computers required, etc.

So, in a nutshell, PMKVY is a major scheme which if followed seriously will open a huge number of benefits and the overall growth of the nation. Let us join hands and make this project a successful one.
